Spanish 1A

Prerequisite: None

Spanish 1 is an introduction to the Spanish language and includes lessons on pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Students learn the basic structure of Spanish, with an emphasis on verb conjugation, gender agreement, and commonly used irregular verb forms. The class also discusses the diverse culture of Spanish speaking countries.

Spanish 1B

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Spanish 1A

Spanish 1B is the continuation of Spanish 1A and is an introduction to the Spanish language and includes lessons on pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Students learn the basic structure of Spanish, with an emphasis on verb conjugation, gender agreement, and commonly used irregular verb forms. The class also discusses the diverse culture of Spanish speaking countries.

Spanish 2A

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Spanish 1

Spanish 2A is a continuation of Spanish 1A, 1B. Along with occasional review from Spanish 1, this course focuses on new grammar, greater comprehension, and more vocabulary. Students work on advanced verb conjugation; the use of prepositions; and Spanish writing. All lessons include dialogues (with sound), which emphasize the vocabulary and grammar of the lesson.

Spanish 2B

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Spanish 1 and Spanish 2A

Spanish 2A is a continuation of Spanish 1. Along with occasional review from Spanish 1, this course focuses on new grammar, greater comprehension, and more vocabulary. Students work on advanced verb conjugation; the use of prepositions; and Spanish writing. All lessons include dialogues (with sound), which emphasize the vocabulary and grammar of the lesson.

Spanish 3A

Prerequisite: Spanish 1 and Spanish 2

Spanish 3A keeps building on the grammar and vocabulary you started learning in Spanish 1 and 2. Spanish 3 will be more advanced and expand your knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world and how different cultures through history have helped shape Spanish as we know it today. Students will used advanced grammar: affirmatives and negatives, present perfect, subjunctive tense, por vs. para, future tense, explore the culture through myths and legends while building on their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Spanish 3B

Grade Level: 10-12

Prerequisite: Spanish 1 and Spanish 2

Spanish 3B is a continuation of the language and culture in the past, present and future. Topics covered in part B of the course include: reciprocal actions, more subjunctive, nosotros commands, past perfect, conditional tense, si clauses, giving advice and continuing to grow as Spanish speakers, readers, writers and improve listening skills.
