SC Whitmore School Announces Partnership with 100 Yards Football Academy
May 3, 2016
Columbia, SC – SC Whitmore School announced on Tuesday that they will serve as the education partner for the 100 Yards Football Academy, which was formally announced yesterday at a press conference in Greenville.
100 Yards Football Academy will be the football division of 22 Feet Group, a well-known basketball academy based in Greenville, South Carolina. At the announcement press conference on Monday, 22 Feet CEO Mike Rawson announced that former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd would serve as a partner and mentor to students at 100 Yards Academy and that SCWS would serve as the academy’s education component. All SC residents attending the 100 Yards Academy will enroll at SCWS for their high school education.
SCWS is a free virtual charter high school based in Columbia and currently serves more than 400 students across the state of South Carolina. SCWS was established in 2011 as part of the South Carolina Public Charter School District with the goal of serving students who don’t fit into the traditional brick and mortar school model. SCWS serves students from 9th to 12th grade.
SCWS Principal John Loveday said his school fits the 100 Yards Academy’s needs perfectly.
“SC Whitmore is a perfect fit for 100 Yards Academy because our school has the ability to provide a free, high-quality education to students with nontraditional schedules and unique life circumstances,” said SC Whitmore Principal John Loveday. “Virtual schools like SCWS give students the flexibility to take their classes at night, on the weekends, or whenever it fits their schedule best. Due to 100 Yards Academy’s extensive travel schedule, SC Whitmore will allow them to still attend all of their classes even when they are competing in games across the country. We are extremely excited about this new partnership and grateful for the opportunity we’ve been given by 100 Yards Academy.”
