Columbia, SC – South Carolina Whitmore School, a tuition-free, virtual public charter high school based in Columbia, is proud to announce the 2017 Student of the Year, senior Jami Mercer.
Mercer is a resident of Spartanburg and chose to attend SCWS in order to graduate early and work during the day. She holds a full-time job at Chick-Fil-A in Spartanburg, working Monday through Friday

She embodies the characteristics of the student we want to grow as outlined in our mission statement,” said SCWS School Counselor Amber Goff.
“Jami always worked hard. Her responses were well researched and thoughtful,” said History teacher Trisha Lekovich.
“She is a hard worker and a great student,” said English teacher Alanna Cole.
Jami was chosen Student of the Year by SCWS teachers based on how well she has done this school year. Jami sees her strengths as responsibility and dedication.
