Back in 2008 the South Carolina Public Charter School District opened. Since this inaugural year I have been fortunate enough to work with various virtual schools within the SCPCSD, in a variety of roles, including: curriculum developer, teacher, department head, assistant principal, and principal. Prior to my experience with virtual schools, I was a traditional high school social studies teacher in Columbia, SC.
I attended the University of South Carolina where I received each of my degrees, including: a Bachelor of Arts in History, Master of Teaching in Secondary Education and a Master of Education in Educational Administration. I am also an alumnus of the Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership (CAEL) program through the Harvard Graduate School of Education, as well as the Diversity Leaders Initiative through the Riley Institute at Furman University. I currently serve on the board of directors for two wonderful organizations: the Lexington/Richland County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC) and the LRADAC Foundation (formally known as the Healing Families Foundation.)
My wife, Amanda, and I have two sons (Rutledge and Rowan) and two dogs (Bella and Molly). We live in Columbia, SC and enjoy rooting for our Gamecocks. We also enjoy traveling and spending time with our family.
Since 2011, SC Whitmore School has assisted hundreds of students in meeting their full potential. I work at SCWS because I believe students and parents should have high quality options, when it comes to public education. I am proud SCWS offers students and parents one of those high quality public school options in South Carolina.
