English/Language Arts Teacher
I teach English 2 and 3, along with a handful of elective courses (like Creative Writing, Career Internship, and Parenthood Ed) here at SC Whitmore School. I have a Bachelor in Arts (English Language Arts) from Coastal Carolina University. I spent some time in the workforce after college, only to realize that my true passion was teaching. I became a substitute teacher for Horry County Schools and decided to return to Coastal Carolina to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching. This is my third year of teaching at SC Whitmore School.
I have been married for eight years, and I have two beautiful daughters who are my world: Rachel (6) and Ava (5). We have recently adopted a new kitten into the family and we also have a Rottweiler-Lab mix named “Kenny.” I live in Conway, which is just a jump, hop, and skip away from Myrtle Beach. I love sunshine, going to the beach, and anything outdoors (but only when the weather is nice.) I am very cold-natured and don’t fare well during winter. In the colder months, you can often find me curled up in a lot of blankets with some hot chocolate and a good book.
I work at SCWS because I understand that education isn’t “one size fits all.” I love seeing students succeed, especially when they have been told they can’t.
