State Representative Nancy Mace to Deliver SC Whitmore School Commencement Address

May 30, 2019

Press Releases

Columbia, SC – SC Whitmore School (SCWS), a tuition-free virtual public charter school, recently confirmed that South Carolina State Representative, Nancy Mace, will deliver this year’s commencement address. Originally from Goose Creek, Mace overcame adversity at a young age when she went dropped out of high school and started working at a Waffle House. She went back to school, and onto the Citadel- where she would become the military college’s first female graduate. Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 99th district, is also the first woman to ever hold the seat. In addition to her role as state representative, Mace is a successful realtor and formerly owned a boutique technology, marketing and public relations firm. Mace currently resides on Daniel Island.

In her address, Mace plans to emphasize to the new graduates to not be afraid to take risks. “I hope to share with students how the values of courage and confidence can impact them for a lifetime and to figure out what truly drives them so they can follow those passions,” said Mace.

SC Whitmore School is thrilled to be hosting such a distinguished and accomplished guest and looks forward to her commencement address. “We’re honored to have Representative Mace serve as this year’s commencement speaker and look forward to her motivating words,” said a representative from the school.

The commencement is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11 am at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center located at 1101 Lincoln Street in Columbia, SC.
