Courtney Williamson-Holley

Columbia, SC — SC Whitmore School proudly announces that Courtney Williamson-Holley, CTE teacher, has been named the SC Whitmore School 2026 Teacher of the Year. Known for her student-centered approach, authentic leadership, and dedication to real-world learning experiences, Williamson-Holley has made a lasting impact on students across South Carolina.

Mrs. Williamson-Holley brings both academic excellence and personal passion to her work. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoys traveling, watching true-crime shows, and spending time with family.

Williamson-Holley credits her love for education to early life experiences that shaped her perspective on learning.

“Losing my mother at an early age helped me realize that education doesn’t only happen in school — it happens through people, experiences, and everyday life. I began to see everyone around me as teachers, even when they didn’t know it. That realization inspired me to share knowledge and wisdom with others, and that passion has never left me.”

Her teaching philosophy blends research-based practices with relationship building and practical application.

“My teaching is eclectic and adaptive. I focus on relationships, real-world connections, and making learning relatable. Business education naturally lends itself to this because it connects directly to students’ futures.”

Williamson-Holley emphasizes trust and respect as the foundation of student success.

“I connect with students by embracing my story and being vulnerable and approachable. Respect is the gateway to trust. When students feel valued, they rise to expectations.”

Principal Eboné Adams praised Williamson-Holley’s commitment and influence. Mrs. Adams said, “Mrs. Williamson-Holley represents the very best of SC Whitmore School. Her ability to inspire, lead, and connect with students is extraordinary. She empowers students not only academically but personally, preparing them for leadership and success beyond the classroom. We are incredibly proud to recognize her as our Teacher of the Year.”

Executive Director Kim Dunbar also highlighted her impact. Mrs. Dunbar said, “Mrs. Williamson-Holley’s dedication to excellence and innovation embodies our mission. Her leadership within Career and Technical Education and FBLA has opened doors for countless students, giving them confidence and real-world skills. She is a remarkable educator and leader, and this honor is well deserved.”

Williamson-Holley encourages fellow educators to focus on balance and self-management to thrive in any teaching environment.

“Developing strong self-management skills allows educators to maintain peace, cope with challenges, and persevere. When you’re grounded, you can better support your students.”

She dedicates this recognition to her late sister. “It took me a while to understand why serving others came so naturally to her, but now I see it. This honor reflects the lessons she modeled for me.”

As Teacher of the Year, Williamson-Holley continues to inspire students through leadership, innovation, and a deep belief that education extends far beyond the classroom.
